Prior to ISO commencing cargo logistics for the Kiwifruit Industry vessel operations were limited to 16 hour days, with two 8 hour shifts in operation. ISO introduced 24 hour operations with the use of a Transit Buffer Store to allow for cargo to be specifically consolidated and managed during the late night/early morning hours when coolstores were no longer available to supply kiwifruit for vessel loading. This generated considerable despatch earnings in the order of millions of dollars for the industry.
